AIMIM's Performance in Telangana Assembly Elections 2023
Friendly Ally of BRS Wins Seven Seats
AIMIM, a friendly ally of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Telangana, secured seven seats in the 2023 Assembly elections.
The All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) managed to win only seven seats out of the 119-seat assembly, with most of its victories coming from areas within the Old Hyderabad region.
Akbaruddin Owaisi, the younger brother of AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi, retained his seat in the Chanadrayangutta constituency, which has been a stronghold for the party. The party's seven candidates emerged victorious in the nine seats they contested.
These results are a decline from the 2018 Assembly elections, where AIMIM won eight seats. However, the party remains a significant player in Telangana politics, particularly in the Hyderabad region.
