Alvarez to take on fellow Mexican foe on Cinco De Mayo weekend

Undisputed super middleweight to defend title in all-Mexican showdown

Mexican superstars Canelo Álvarez and Jaime Munguía to go toe-to-toe for the WBO super middleweight title

WEB Mexican superstars will go toe-to-toe as pound-for-pound great Canelo Álvarez puts his undisputed super middleweight world title on the line against Jaime Munguía on Cinco De Mayo weekend.

Undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez returns to the ring for his annual Cinco De Mayo weekend fight and will face former WBO super middleweight champion Jaime Munguía.

The fight will take place on May 6 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and will be broadcast live on DAZN.

“This is the fight that most of the boxing world wanted to see on Cinco de Mayo weekend,” said Alvarez. “Jaime Munguía is a young, hungry fighter and I’m excited to share the ring with him.”

Munguía is a 26-year-old Mexican boxer who has held the WBO super middleweight title since 2019. He has a record of 41-0 with 36 knockouts.

“I’m grateful for this opportunity to fight Canelo Alvarez,” said Munguía. “He’s the best fighter in the world and I’m going to give it my all to beat him.”

The fight is expected to be a close and competitive one. Álvarez is the more experienced fighter, but Munguía is younger and hungrier.

In what will be his 25th world title fight Mexican icon Canelo Alvarez defends his undisputed super middleweight championship this Cinco de Mayo weekend against fellow Mexican Jaime Munguia.
