Late Jovic Goal Keeps Serbia's Hopes Alive

In a pulsating Group B encounter, Serbia fought back from the brink of defeat to earn a thrilling 1-1 draw against Slovenia. With only seconds remaining on the clock, substitute Luka Jovic rose highest to nod home a dramatic equalizer, keeping Serbia's Euro 2024 hopes alive.

A Tightly Contested Affair

Both teams started the match cautiously, with few clear-cut chances in the opening stages. However, as the game progressed, Serbia began to exert more control, with Aleksandar Mitrovic and Dusan Tadic threatening the Slovenian defense. Despite their dominance, Serbia failed to find a breakthrough.

Slovenia Stuns Serbia

Just when it seemed like Serbia would take the lead, Slovenia struck against the run of play. In the 85th minute, Benjamin Sesko latched onto a loose pass and slotted home a clinical finish to give Slovenia a shock lead.

Jovic to the Rescue

With time running out, Serbia threw everything they had at Slovenia. In the dying seconds, Jovic pounced on a cross from the left flank and guided a powerful header into the net. The goal sent the Serbian bench and fans into raptures, while Slovenia was left to rue their missed opportunity.

Serbia's Hopes Reignite

The draw keeps Serbia in contention for qualification to the knockout stages. However, they will need to improve their performance in their remaining matches. Slovenia, meanwhile, will be disappointed not to have secured all three points but will take heart from their spirited display.
